Photo Gallery - Southern Tour 1988-1989
In the fall of 1988, we gathered at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens (sometimes called Shaw's Garden) for our group pictures. Above is Concert Choir and below is Chamber Singers.
Below is from the same photo shoot, but here is Childrens' Choirs.
Chamber Singers at the Spring Concert.
Here we are on tour. The bus got too cold so we decided to stop and take a look at the corn fields of Oklahoma. Actually, I was in the van, so this first of many breakdowns didn't bother me.
Here is Brad Rouse and Accompanist Lana Richard trying to find a quick way to the concert.
Should they really be doing this on the bus? They need to be back in their seats while the bus is in motion (sorry, just the teacher in me).
Proof that even chaperones (Mrs. Pierce) can have fun on tour.
Here is our transportation manager for the tour, Tobin Sparfeld, trying to arrange alternate transportation for the buses that keep breaking down (see the next picture).
Believe it or not, the bus actually broke down twice in the same day!! The first time, the radiator gave and we were all shuttled to the nearest Dairy Queen. Later, after we were on a different bus, we ran out of gas. Again, we were all shuttled to the nearest Dairy Queen. Luckily, our chaperones found a church in the small town we were in and the people who were meeting at the church that evening volunteered to drive us into Dallas, where we arrived at 7:15 for a 7:30 concert...we were supposed to be in Dallas at noon with the afternoon at a local mall.
Dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas. Seated around the table from left to right are: Ely Wilson, Susan (Church) Bellows, Cory (Steen) Letchworth, Chester Pidduck, Michael Herron, and J. McKeever.
Outside the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas.
She really did not want back on that bus (this is Lana Turner Richard, our Accompanist).
At the end of the tour, we were all asked to write superlatives about each other. Click here to see those superlatives.
