Michael Herron

Michael grew up in St. Louis, singing with the SLCC from 1980-1989.   From there, he attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.  Upon graduating from IWU, he was hired by the SLCC to teach music reading and be a rehearsal assistant.  He is currently the accompanist for Chamber Singers and for the Young Men's Ensemble.

 

Michael is currently the  choral director at Gateway Middle School.  Before teaching at Gateway, he taught at Pruitt Military Academy for 10 years.  He completed his Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri at St. Louis in 2003.

 

Michael is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers (2005-present).  He was a member of he Executive Board of the Missouri Choral Directors Association from 2004-2006 and is currently the Middle School Choral Vice-President for the St. Louis Metro District of the Missouri Music Educators Association.

 

In his "spare" time, he is President and Treasurer of the non-profit organization Scottish Partnership for Arts & Education.
