Heather (Martin) Cooper
Since leaving St. Louis in 1988, I have been living in several different places. I went to Salem College where I graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance. Salem is a liberal arts college for women in Winston-Salem North Carolina. From there I moved to South Bend, Indiana where I attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1994 with a Master of Music degree in organ performance. Then I moved to Englewood, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton, where I accepted my current position of Director of Music at St. Paul Catholic Church. I completed two levels of Kodaly certification at Capital University in Columbus, and plan to complete my certification sometime. My job is full-time, and I direct an adult choir as well as two children's choirs. I met Jim Cooper, the son of one of my adult choir members and married him at Sunday Mass on September 6th, 1998. We have been very happy, especially since we just bought our first house. We moved in October, and have been working non-stop with repairs, cleaning and painting: but we are enjoying the process of making the house, built in 1938, our own home. I am also busy with extra-curricular music activities. The most substantial of these is my involvement with the Dayton Bach Society. I sing second soprano and have occasionally accompanied the chorus, as well as perform solo at the organ for concerts. I enjoy accompanying singers and instrumentalists occasionally in the Dayton area. I also did some study in harpsichord, which has subsided since my schedule got busier for a time. My husband, Jim and I welcomed a daughter - Brigid Maureen Cooper - on December 18, 2000. So there you have it...my latest and greatest news. I will certainly stay in contact better.
